Settlers of America: Trails to Rails features a map of the United States built from the familiar Catan hex-tile resource system. Players collect and trade resources in order to settle cities, lay railroads, and acquire locomotives as they settle the western frontier. Trains travel the rails to distribute goods to the interconnected cities. As players move west, eastern areas lose value as those resources get depleted. Along the way, players earn gold, which adds to the depth of play by increasing purchase options for the players.
